What Is a Yo Pro?

Yo pro.

For my fellow Tar Heels, yo pro sounds similar to the beloved froyo place on Franklin Street. For my fellow millennials working in Charlotte, yo pro is a term we give to other young professionals.

As much as I love talking about froyo, this blog will not revolve around frozen treats.

Networking can be awkward for yo pros. I know because I am one, but it doesn’t have to be.

Hygge resident, Kristin Taylor, serves on the board for The Young Affiliates who are “a diverse group of young professionals promoting and supporting the Mint Museum through cultural, social, leadership, and fundraising activities and events.”

Kristin also serves as chair for the annual Charity Ball that will be held at the Mint Museum on November 19th. It’s a black tie gala that is Alice in Wonderland themed. So. Much. Fun. There will be a band, DJ, delicious food and an open bar.

Tickets for members of the Mint Museum are $100 and $120 for nonmembers.

They’re offering a 15 percent off discount for Hygge friends and family. Just use the discount word “hygge” at checkout.

You can purchase tickets here.

All the proceeds from the event will go toward giving kids tours of the Mint Museum who normally wouldn’t be able to go. Last year the proceeds helped 30,000 kids go on tours, Kristin says.

“It’s partying for a good cause,” she says. “It’s better than prom, you can’t get in trouble for drinking. These are people like you. They love the community, they love art and it’s just fun.”

If you like craft beer and cocktails, you’re just in luck. The Charity Ball is sponsored by Sycamore Brewing, Birdsong Brewing and Tito’s Vodka — what’s not to love about that?

Their last event was the YP mixer that drew close to 600 people, and they’re expecting around 500 for the Charity Ball.
