zero to ten with shellly biby

MeckEd is doing a whole lot in Charlotte to support middle and high school students with their education and career trajectory. From bolstering nonprofit programs so they can be in more schools to creating their own programming to an online tool which connects parents and students to learning opportunities throughout the city, you might think they’re a large operation.

You’d be wrong. Shelly Biby, COO of the organization, told us they have 8 full time folks on staff at MeckEd, all of whom gamely wear different hats throughout the day to ensure things get done – herself included.

MeckEd is one of the newer office members at our hygge camp north end location, and they’ve quickly integrated themselves into the fam and the larger Camp North End community. We’re constantly seeing them come and go on their way to host workshops, programs and other opportunities for students, so we asked Shelly to come by the hygge podcast studio to learn more.

And what we learned is that MeckEd is about more than supporting students in their education and careers – it’s about developing them as individuals. Over their 30 years of existence, MeckEd has shifted their offerings to meet students’ needs as they change. A recent example has been more of a focus on mental health resources for students.

Shelly and her team are doing some pretty incredible things for students in Charlotte. To learn more about them, listen to our full interview with Shelly above or search for our podcast show, Zero to Ten, wherever you like to listen.
