When Garrett first sat down to record a podcast episode with Bold Music‘s George Ramsay, it was under less pleasant circumstances. It was March 26, 2020, the day before Gov. Roy Cooper announced a statewide stay-at-home order due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Small businesses were scrambling, and George’s was no different. His entire business model was in-home music lessons, but suddenly that wasn’t possible.

George will say he’s lucky – even though we think it’s much more about his work ethic than luck. Music teachers were able to switch to virtual teaching for kids, and a lot of folks sought out Bold Music last summer for music lessons while they had so much extra time on their hands.

That doesn’t mean anything about the journey over the past year-and-a-half has been easy, though.

On this episode of Zero to Ten, we sat down again with George to get an update on how his business survived the pandemic, what he learned along the way and what’s coming next for Bold Music.
