Frame of Mind with Duncan Littlefield
Welcome to the Frame of Mind series, the brain child of Chase Price with RedefineU Media. At hygge, we’re kind of known for keeping it short. Most of our videos are under one minute and at Zero Day we strictly enforce the 10 minute rule. But a few months ago, Chase came to us with an idea: interview local start ups and entrepreneurs about their stories and ask them questions that small business owners, creatives and community leaders everywhere are struggling with. This series of long interviews (yup, 30-45 minutes) is designed to get in-depth and personal, so get ready to dig in.
Forgive us, but we’re big fans of Duncan Littlefield.
He’s got probably one of the coolest back stories we’ve ever heard (he’s a former pro golfer-turned photographer-turned video and content development company CEO), he’s been a member of the #hyggefam for pretty much ever and his alter ego is as a helicopter salesman.
Even if you have no idea who exactly he is, chances are you’ve watched one of his videos if you live in Charlotte. The Littlefield Co. has worked with huge names in the area like the Carolina Hurricanes, the U.S. National Whitewater Center and NoDa Brewing Company, as well as national brands like Belk Bowl, EcoTools and Callaway.
And, luckily, us too. Duncan and his team are behind some of our favorite hygge videos ever, including our hygge cares video series and the Not Just Coffee partnership announcement from earlier this year.
From a one-guy show to the team of 10 (yup, he’s added two more to the team since the filming of this video), Duncan is on a mission to share stories visually help develop the next generation of creatives.
On the latest episode of Frame of Mind, Chase Price with RedefineU Media asks Duncan how he made the switch from pro golf to photography, when he pivoted into the video space and how he’s effectively grown to a team of 10 who mesh well to create incredible work.
The truth is, it wasn’t easy for him.
“The reality is I didn’t want anyone to feel like they worked for me. I didn’t want someone to feel like, ‘I’m just making a video or doing something for Duncan to make him money.’ That’s not okay to me. I want someone to plant their flag and go, ‘I am here for these reasons, and for myself.’”
You can watch the full video below. And yes, we know it’s long, but sometimes, you’ve gotta sit and take the time to learn from someone else. So watch this instead of scrolling on Instagram mindlessly on your couch after work – it’ll be worth it, we promise.
